How to Apply Your Iron-On Patch
Gather Materials
You will need: an iron, ironing board or flat surface, a thin press cloth (like a pillowcase or dish towel), and your patch and garment.
Prepare the Area
Preheat your iron to medium-high or “cotton” setting. Turn off steam and ensure no water is in the iron. Place your garment on a flat, heat-resistant surface and iron the area to smooth wrinkles and preheat the fabric.
Position the Patch
Place the patch where desired, embroidery side up. Cover it with a press cloth to protect both patch and garment.
Apply Heat
Press the hot iron firmly onto the covered patch for 15–30 seconds without moving. Remove the cloth and let cool slightly.
Secure the Edges
Turn the garment inside out and repeat pressing from the reverse side for another 15–30 seconds to fully bond adhesive. Let cool completely before use.
Pro Tip: For maximum durability, especially on frequently washed or stretched items, sew around the edges after ironing.
How to Sew On Your Patch
Materials Needed
Needle (hand sewing) or sewing machine, matching thread, scissors, optional pins or fabric glue.
Step 1: Position and Secure
Place patch on garment. Use pins or fabric glue to hold it in place during sewing.
Step 2: Hand Sewing (Optional)
Thread needle, knot end. Start from inside garment, push needle up near patch edge, then down through patch edge. Stitch evenly along black border. Tie off securely inside.
Step 3: Machine Sewing (Optional)
Use straight stitch or tight zigzag (satin stitch). Sew around entire black border. Backstitch at end to lock stitches.
Sewing ensures long-lasting durability and prevents peeling or lifting over time.
